Their main aim is to rank for valuable keywords and as an on going project I suggested, first of all to increase and improve content on thir site. Being an online shop the natural choice has been to add a blog to manage new content. I installed a wordpress blog and tailored a template that suits the client. After uploading some content I am now building online popularity for the client.

The market is vry competitive and rankings do not last long. After being in the first page for “autoradio with GPS” (in italian) it dropped on page 2. It is still the first for “autoradio Jl”.

I wish We had met earlier. I thought to know my business better than anyone else. What I did not realise is that you can be the best on the high street and still not been able to  make money online

Webresidential.co.uk is an online letting agent that offers to market houses or flats to let. Its approach is quite simple, giving landlords the opportunity to list their properties in all the major portals in UK (like Rightmove, Primelocation, Findaproperty etc.).

When we first met, Webresidential needed consultancy and project management to start having traffic in the  short term and to build a strong brand over time. I started to drive traffic through Search Marketing with Google Adwords and Yahoo! Search. One of the initial problems was that the web site was not converting, we needed to act ondesign and user experience.

After a complete re-design which improved user experience and conversion rates, I started to work to organise the content and the external popularity of the website.

At the time I am writing Webresidential.co.uk is on the first page of Google for some relevant keywords (like “online letting agent“).

He first started using the internet to show his work to clients, a portfolio. With a new approach more orientated to generate leads and create new revenue streams reportage-photograpy.com is aimed to create and organise content in order to rank at the top of SERPS for related phrases.

The real challenge here is to implement a SEO strategy which communicates to the right target audience. We need, in fact, to talk to potential clients and not potential photographers!

Even if (unfortunately) this approach is not always the quickest or easiest one, I have managed to rank many web sites on the first page of Google for relevant keywords.

In terms of on-site SEO, I normally check all the website structure in order to approve, amend or implement best practice. I normally analyse meta tags, code validation, css validation, internal links structure, usability, image usage, flash usage etc. I believe people  arrive to a web site for many different reasons and I need to engage and give them what they were looking for in the first place in order to establish a connection. Whatever the reason (and so the landing page) I need to set up a logic route to an action, going through all the possible steps.

For on-page SEO,  I focus on content and keywords. At this stage “relevance” is the answer to any problem, originality is the way forward. My priority is to understand my target audience  to see what is missing on competition websites. My mission at this point is to build every single step of the logic process to the action. At some point of this path I try to place an application, a video, a guide, a game or anything can be a link bait.

Good External Links are in fact my (and every SEO professional around) most important off-site tactic. I am not a fan of link trading and consider link exchange programs, completely useless if not dangerous. I believe in participating in discussions, in sharing the content. Quality of links is much more important than quantity.

For new web sites with no history or no traffic I suggest to go through a PPC campaign management service before approaching organic placement activities. This is a good way of creating traffic in the short term and understanding which search phrases are the best to convert traffic in actions.

Content Management Systems give site owners and staff the advantage of improving the capabilities of the site as well as the content. CMS expandability is in fact is a big advantage. Every new functionality added to a traditional website involves designers, developers and often other professionals to tailor exactly what the clients is looking for. With CMS there’s a good chance to find a ready made plugin, module, component etc. that does exactly what is needed.

Most of the problems arising from a new project are due to communication. This does not mean a lack of it. Often the number of reports and emails is so high that generates confusion and misunderstanding more that anything else. The real problem is the code. A Web Developer does not always understand business and a Sales or Marketing Manager might not understand programming. They need a translator, an interface. This is where I normally stand, firstly taking a brief and translating it for a more technical audience, than following the project, coordinating all the different tasks, making sure that everything is done according to best practices, deadlines and budget.
